Development Audit

The development audit, in most cases, is tangential to strategic planning, in that it focuses directly on how the strategic development plan is carried out.

The audit observes and analyzes hard data and internal records and relies on personal interviews with executive, staff, volunteer, donor, and prospective donor personnel in order to assess comprehensively how the institution or organization is implementing the development plan, programs, and services as well as the communication and public relations function so critical to a successful development and/or advancement program.

The audit will define and recommend for clients a precise plan of action on how to better link to the strategic plan and implement a solid and goal-oriented development function. Once soft spots have been addressed by the organization, it will then be necessary to revisit strategic planning in order to bring about a seamless action plan for iterative monitoring and execution and iterative planning, both strategic and tactical. The outcome and deliverable will be a comprehensive report with recommendations and supporting plans to underpin the organization’s strategic development plan.
